Protein is found in nearly every body part or tissue throughout the human body. It goes without saying that it is important to get enough of these vital amino acids in order to maintain the health of one’s body. Although some meats are known for having a high cholesterol or saturated fat content, if chosen correctly, there are some cuts that can become part of a healthy, protein rich diet. Animal proteins such as the ones found below tend be rich in the essential amino acids our diets need.

.) Chicken Breast. The boneless and skinless variety of chicken can be a delicious way to load up on some extra protein. The recommended serving between 4 and 6 ounces is packed with crucial vitamins and nutrients. Make sure to use a simple recipe like this one as to not negate its nutritional value with calorie rich sauces.
.) Turkey Cutlet. In addition to being a high source of protein this white meat has iron, potassium and phosphorus as an added bonus. Turkey also has the amino acid tryptophan which helps regulate the immune system. This recipe with vegetables is a nice way to eat a balanced meal of both plant and vegetable protein.
.) Lean Ground Beef. Lean ground beef is a versatile meat option that is rich in iron and protein. When choosing a ground beef, be sure to check the “lean descriptor” in order to understand the fat content. Try this Thai recipe which mixes lean ground beef into a rice noodles and shitake mushroom dish.
.) Lean Lamb. Although some cuts are higher in fat than others, if you select a leaner part of the animal like the loin, shank, or leg, lamb can serve as an excellent source of protein. Choose a healthy mode of preparing it like grilling or broiling.
